Does Eyeliner Tattoo Hurt?
Before getting your eyeliner tattoo done, Nanna will put on a numbing cream to help with any discomfort.

While the process is typically considered painless, people who are sensitive or have a lower pain threshold may find it slightly uncomfortable. Overall, most clients report minimal to no pain during the procedure.

How Long Does the Procedure Take?
The eyeliner tattoo procedure typically takes about appox 90mins, incorporating a 15-20-minute numbing process. While a classic eyeliner tattoo or simple style may require less time, a bolder design like winged or cat-eye eyeliner may extend.

How long does eyeliner tattoo last?
Permanent eyeliner tattoos can last between 2-3 years. This all depends on variables such as age, lifestyle, and skin type. To maintain a fresh look, it's generally advised to schedule a colour touch-up every 18 months for your permanent eyeliner.

How is Eyeliner Tattooing Done?

Upon arrival, you will engage in a detailed discussion with Nanna regarding your eyeliner goals and preferred styles.

The more research you have done the better, so come armed with pictures of styles you like, you can also wear your go-to eyeliner style on the day so Nanna can see how it looks on your natural eye shape.

Once the final decision of design, look and colour has been confirmed, Nanna will clean the area with a cotton swab and make-up remover, then apply numbing cream, allowing the cream to take full effect before the tattoo procedure commences ensuring a comfortable and painless experience.

Once the area is numbed Nanna will attentively craft the desired eyeliner style. Equipment she will use includes;  gloves, gown, and a permanent makeup machine.

The small gauge needles used will infuse the pigment gradually into the skin, delicately crafting fine lines and shadowing.

During the procedure, Nanna will methodically move back and forth over small sections of your lash line to ensure the pigment sets properly.

Once the eyeliner tattoo is completed, it is important to follow the aftercare instructions diligently, safeguarding your eyes from potential damage or the tattoo not healing consistently during the initial healing phase.

Other Eyeliner Tattooing Styles Explained

With Nanna's expert insight, you can confidently make informed decisions about choosing the perfect eyeliner tattoo style for a look that enhances your natural beauty.

Classic Eyeliner
This style of eyeliner starts from the inner corner of the eye, following the lash line precisely to the outer corner, without an exaggerated wing.

If the lower lash line is tattooed, it is crucial to keep a slight separation from the upper line.
This gap helps prevent pigment migration, as the skin in this area is sensitive. Connecting the upper and lower lines can give the illusion of smaller eyes, hence it is best to keep them distinct.

Winged Eyeliner
A sophisticated twist on the traditional eyeliner, the winged liner features an elongated outer corner that gracefully extends into a wing.

Winged Eyeliner

When executed skillfully and complemented by the right eye shape, this style can cleverly give the impression of larger, lifted eyes. It is most flattering for almond, upturned, close-set, and deep-set eyes.

Nonetheless, it is recommended to approach with care for downturned and round/protruding eye shapes, while hooded or monolid eyes may not be the most suitable canvas for a winged eyeliner look.

Ombre Eyeliner Tattoo aka Shaded Eyeliner or Smokey Eyeliner and Designer Eyeliner
If you want to create a bold statement with your Eye liner tattoo, one striking option is the shaded or smokey look, where a shade is skillfully added above the line to create a soft, smoked-out effect, often complemented by a wing for extra flair.

Typically, a deep brown tone is used for shading, slightly lighter than the main line, although purple is also a popular shade.

This technique has been recently coined as "permanent eyeshadow" by some artists, while others refer to it as "designer eyeliner," showcasing the versatility and creativity within the realm of cosmetic tattoo treatments to replicate traditional eye makeup techniques.

Lower Eyeliner Tattoo
Incorporating bottom lid eyeliner is an easy addition to various eyeliner tattoo styles involves including an extra line that closely follows the bottom lashes, starting from the first lash and extending to the last.

When opting for lower lid eyeliner tattoo, it is important to avoid connecting it to the upper lid as this can create a visually closing effect on the eye, making it appear smaller.

Some clients opt solely for a lower lash line enhancement without tattooing on the upper lid whatsoever.

Eye Lash Enhancement
This style of eyeliner tattoo infuses permanent pigment into the eyelash line giving a subtle natural appearance of longer, thicker lashes. First, the area is numbed, and then a thin line is tattooed directly in your lash line using a light needle.

In the future, the artist will fill in between the lashes for a fuller appearance.
Similar to semi permanent eyeliner, this procedure also requires frequent touch-ups in the start, but once it is set, it lasts for 2-3 years, depending upon your exposure to sun, medications, and water.
